Universal Children’s Day 2012

Posted on Posted in Human Rights

November 20 is Universal Children’s Day!

In commemoration of the anniversary of the signing of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, Universal Children’s Day is intended to remind people that children too have rights and that it is necessary to protect these rights.

Universal Children’s Day is celebrated to promote children’s rights and to create awareness about the need for child welfare – for the benefit of the children themselves and for society at large.

Although the situation is improving in some parts of the world, more effort is required to ensure that little girls and boys can live in happiness, protected from hunger, cold, disease and abuse.

As Dostoyevski put it: “Nothing justifies a single tear from a single child.”
