The right to non-discrimination is a complex and vital right at the cornerstone of the realization of human rights, and The International Convention on the Rights of the Child is pillared by its ideals.

Minority children

Across the world, children are discriminated against due to the fact that they form part of a minority group or community. When they belong to more than one minority group, this discrimination is heightened.

Indigenous children

Indigenous children face many challenges in asserting their fundamental rights, including poverty, discrimination and the endangerment of their culture. States must put in place special protection that takes into account their daily challenges, linked to the past of colonisation.

Disabled children

Fifteen percent of the world’s population has some form of disability. Children with disabilities, which account for 240 million of all disabled people globally, are among the most marginalized people in every society.
